Test Results

Test results will take varying times to come back to the surgery, depending upon the type of test.

You should allow at least a week before your result is received, reviewed by the practice and released to you.

Patients can view their test results online, the easiest way to do this is to download the NHS app.

NHS App and your NHS account – NHS (www.nhs.uk)

Alternatively, you can submit an e Consult or call the surgery. We request that you call after 2pm as our phone lines are usually busiest in the mornings.

The receptionist will be able to inform you if your result is normal, or whether you need to discuss the result with a healthcare professional.

If your result is abnormal and requires follow up (ie. GP appointment, retaking of bloods etc), you will be contacted by the surgery to arrange this, usually via SMS. Whilst we will always try to contact you if action is needed, it it also your responsibility to follow up on your test results.

Results of cervical smears will be sent to patients directly by post, usually within 3 weeks, however, if contacting the surgery please allow 10-12 weeks for this.

Please be aware that results of tests that have been arranged by hospital teams (blood tests, scans, endoscopies) are not sent to the surgery. To obtain these results, please contact the secretary of your hospital consultant/team – our team will not be able to provide these results for you.
