Prescription Turn Around Times

Many of you will already be aware that like a lot of surgeries, we have a dedicated pharmacy team working alongside our GPs and nurses.

Due to the high volumes of repeat prescription requests we receive each day, the vast majority are reviewed and signed off by a specialist pharmacist. This is to try and keep waiting times to a minimum and ensures we are working safely. It also frees up GP time so they are available to undertake more appointments.

We have recently had a change of personnel. Due to the new Pharmacist finding her feet within a new team there may be some teething issues and we are grateful for your support with this over the next few weeks. If there are any problems please contact us via the usual channels.

Please continue to request prescriptions either through the NHS app or Patient access. You are also welcome to post them or pop into the surgery and do it in person. Please note, we cannot accept prescription requests over the phone, this is purely for your safety.

The expected turn around time for a routine repeat prescription is 3 working days. Items that are required urgently will be processed as quickly as possible but please try to allow at least 24 hours wherever possible. Once a prescription has been signed we have no control over how quickly your chosen pharmacy will action this, please contact them directly if you are encountering any issues.

Our inhouse Pharmacy Team will continue to be available to discuss any issues related to medications – side effects, supply/stock issues, alternative options etc. They can also undertake medication reviews and follow ups after hospital stays. Appointments with the team can be booked via reception.

Thanks
