Pharmacy Oral Contraception Service

Oral contraception (‘the pill’) is now available for certain patient cohorts from the Pharmacist without needing to go via your GP Practice.

To be eligible to access the service, the patient must be seeking to be started on oral contraception, or seeking to obtain a further supply of their ongoing contraceptive pill prescription.

The 2 eligible patient cohorts are:

  • Combined Oral Contraceptive (COCP) – from when your periods start up to and including 49 years of age
  • Progestogen Only Pill (POP) – from when your periods start up to and including 54 years of age
