COVID and Flu Vaccine Plans

Dear Patients,

We would like to inform you that the eligibility criteria for this year’s Autumn COVID-19 and Seasonal Influenza vaccination programme have now been confirmed.

Please note that these cohorts differ slightly from previous years.

We will be administering all COVID and flu vaccinations at our Adelaide Medical Centre site. A range of weekday and weekend clinics will be available to offer maximum convenience for our patients.

Eligible patients will begin receiving booking invitations in mid August, with appointments scheduled for September or October, depending on the start dates confirmed by NHS England (details below).

We have sufficient vaccine supplies for all eligible patients and strongly recommend you to take up the vaccination to protect yourselves. For those eligible for both vaccines, we offer and encourage these being co-administered in a single appointment. (given at the same time).

NHS-Eligible Cohorts for Seasonal Influenza Vaccination

From September 2025:

  • Pregnant women
  • All children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025
  • Primary school-aged children (Reception to Year 6)
  • Secondary school-aged children (Year 7 to Year 11)
  • Children aged 6 months to under 18 years in clinical risk groups

From October 2025 (exact date to be confirmed by NHS England):

  • Adults aged 65 years and over
  • Adults aged 18 to under 65 in clinical risk groups (as per Green Book, Chapter 19)
  • Residents in long-stay care homes
  • Carers in receipt of Carer’s Allowance or those who are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person
  • Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
  • Frontline social care workers without employer-led occupational health cover, including:
    • Registered residential or nursing home staff
    • Domiciliary care providers
    • Voluntary-managed hospice workers
    • Personal Assistants employed via direct or Personal Health Budgets

NHS-Eligible Cohorts for Autumn COVID-19 Booster

From October 2025

  • Residents in care homes for older adults
  • All adults aged 75 and over
  • Individuals aged 6 months and older who are immunosuppressed (as defined in Tables 3 and 4 of the COVID-19 Green Book, Chapter)

We understand it might feel strange to be talking about autumn and winter viruses during a summer heatwave! but rest assured we are already working hard behind the scenes to prepare and protect you in the coming months.
